Works of art are infinitely lonely; nothing is worse than criticism to approach them.

Only love can seize them, keep them, be fair to them. To be alone as one was alone, as a child, when the  adults were coming and going, caught up in matters that seemed important and considerable, since the grown-ups seemed very busy and because their gestures could not be understood.

When one realizes one fine day that their occupations are mediocre, their job frozen and that they no longer have any connection with life, why not continue, like a child, to look at it the same way on what is foreign.
